Hamilton – 25/03/10

Lunchtime sit-in in Hamilton

Date: 25/03/10 Time: 12.30pm Location: Garden Place, Hamilton Supporters of Radio New Zealand gathered in Garden Place, Hamilton at 12.30pm on Thursday 25 March. Fans were encouraged to bring their transistors to tune in together to show their support for national radio at this lunchtime 'sit in'. Reports from our Facebook group attendees:
Monica Holt: Have just been out in Hamilton's Garden Place. Light rain (not good for the cricket...!) but there are 100+ vocal and loyal Nat Rad listeners who have come to support this worthy cause. Mark Servian: Just back from the Save RNZ 'sit-in' in Hamilton's Garden Place, young and old out in numbers, open mic was passed around so lots of people spoke their minds, the best line was from the woman who said that cutting RNZ would drive up the nation's mental health bill... Rachel McShane: HAMILTON WAS A SUCCESS, THX'S FOR TURNING UP, CONSIDERING THE WEATHER WHICH WAS COLD AND MIS'...' Megan Crocket: It was great to hear the ways that Radio NZ is valuable to different people - intelligent reporting, comment, companionship, arts and culture, community. Well done the Tron, especially given the weather.
